Comments
In this sequel to the Di$ney animated classic 101 Dalmatians, the Corgi is in fact not the protagonist but the antagonist!
Just like the live action sequel to 101 Dalmatians i.e. 102 Dalmatians, this is not based on the sequel to the original Dalmatians book by Dodie Smith (The Starlight Barking).
Instead, as the title suggests, we follow the adventures of Patch, the feistiest of the original 99 pups, who "feels lost in a sea of spots and longs to be a one-of-a-kind wonderdog like his TV hero, Thunderbolt" (from Internet Movie Database). Thunderbolt's "trusty" sidekick, Lightning, schemes behind the TV star's tail and plots his downfall in order to become a star himself, but is of course foiled (as is Cruella DeVil) by Patch.
While it's obvious that a real Corgi would never stoop as low as Lightning (seriously!), I suppose we should really be gratefull that the Pem is displayed in a bad light (having seen what being portrayed in a Di$ney film can do to the wrong kind of popularity for a breed).

Based on Dodie Smith's The Hundred And One Dalmatians, or possibly rather on the cartoon version Disney did back in the 1960s. Anyway, the plot goes something like this (from Internet Movie Database): "Fashion designer Anita and computer-game writer Roger meet, fall in love and marry along with their dalmations Perdita and Pongo. But the proud dogs' puppies are kidnapped by Anita's boss Cruella De Vil, who is stealing young dalmations to make the coat she has set her heart on. Enlisting the help of the British animal kingdom, Pongo and Perdita set out to find and rescue all ninety-nine pups from their fearsome captors, Jaspar and Horace". Family entertainment I believe... Personally, tried to watch this once but found myself unable to stomach the slapstick-and-pratfall formula. More knowledgeable persons have informed me that there's a brief glimpse of the Queen's Pembrokes in the "nighty bark" segment of the movie. This film also has a sequel titled, imaginatively enough, 102 Dalmatians.

Sequel to the Disney movie 101 Dalmatians, but not based on the sequel of the original book by Dodie Smith (The Starlight Barking). There's a brief shot of some Corgi puppies (apparently the puppies of the Queen's Corgis from the previous movie) in the "nighty bark" segment.

Described in Internet Movie database as an "epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors", 2012 is the latests (as of the end of the year 2009) Roland Emmerich catastrophe/actioner blockbuster, and also the first really big budget movie to cash in on the year 2012 scare. It's not getting very good reviews but there's a minor corgi moment for people to enjoy (or not, as the case may be) with "Queen Elizabeth II attempting to wrangle a couple of corgis into a mankind-saving ark" to quote from Digital Spy review.

An irreverent British/Canadian co-produced animated sketch show hosted by Mr Hell, a cartoon devil voiced by the comic legend Bob Monkhouse (who passed away in December 2003). Apparently there is at least one corgi in it somewhere, most likely a pembroke in the episode "Mr Hell Takes Buckingham Palace", which also features a Harry Potter send off.

This is an animated children's movie about "a dog [who] returns from the dead looking for revenge on his killer using an orphan girl who can talk to animals" (from Internet Movie Database). A Corgi is apparently seen in a Casino scene toward the begining of the film. He's trying to make a bet with an old collar instead of food as it's obviously supposed to. The Doberman tells him: "No markers, tail-pipe. Come back when you got some food". Oh the nerve (-;)

One of Queen's pembrokes (not the real ones obviously) makes a brief appearance in the third instalment of the "toilet humour meets spy movie parody, with a firm emphasis on the former" comedy movie series. According to a Corgi-L posting, the sighting is "only about a 15 second shot. It's still neat though." I'd be willing to dispute 15 seconds, make it 5 tops -- it's really one of those "blink and you miss it" type of things and certainly does not make it worth sitting through the rest of the movie. The pem coul've at least humped Austin's leg or something so it would have had a real role in the movie (-;)

From Internet Movie Database: "There's quite a bit to like about this pleasant if unoriginal musical. Hawaii has never looked better before or since, showcased by beautiful, panoramic shots in this movie". Hey, they forgot to mention the Pembroke! Fortunately, Anita Nordlunde has been in a position to view this film and has come forth with the following information: "Pembroke corgi has a minor part in this movie. Elvis Presley presents his girl friend with a bikini and while she has a swim she looses the top and the gallant little corgi fetches a blouse and swims out to her!"

An anime miniseries or OVA based on AOKI Kotomi's manga by the same name. Deals with the same, controversial subject matter (see the linked entry), although obviously only with a part of the ongoing story.
Yori the pembroke puts in an appearance although I can't vouch for how large a role he plays in the anime. It may also come as a surprise that although the art is generally rather realistic, Yori is portrayed in a highly stylized manner and almost looks "super deformed" in comparision to humans.
There is also a live action version of the same story from 2007, but as far as I can tell there is no pembroke in it.

From LocateTV.com: "The first programme [of the series Celtic Monsters] examines stories of demons. Using animation and live-action recreations, Blod Griffiths and Wyn Williams tell the tales of Devil's Bridge and Pwca'r Trwyn from Wales, and the Crom Dubh and Caorthannach from Ireland"
Seen in the Welsh bridge segment we have a starving old pembroke (played by a not-at-all-starving and not-so-old dog) who gets rather ill used by her owner in a classic ploy to trick the Devil from taking his due. The appearance is pretty brief and unfortunately none of the other episodes of the show feature corgis.
Note that while this show is (mostly) a documentary about folk beliefs, it touches on things some people in fact still do believe in. I present those people an apology for including this in a fiction database.

A full-length anime movie featuring the characters and universe of the anime TV-series Cowboy Bebop, including Ein the genetically engineered super-intelligent pembroke. The movie is in fact not really stand-alone, being more of an extented episode that goes before Brain Scratch in the series. And as in the series itself, Ein is regrettably little more than a comic relief, although he does have several scenes due to the sheer length of the film. Overall, the film isn't on par with the best episodes of the series and doesn't add anything significant to the story, so it's safe to pass on it unless you are a completist.

Comments
Appearing from (filmed) episode 2 on, Ein is 'an illegal data dog' and more intelligent than an average human. Which is only natural, as he's a corgi!
Even without Ein, this would be the best of the (admittetly rather few) anime TV-series I have seen. The 26 episodes provide stylistic, if somewhat parodic, sci-fi action with some depth and lots of humour that manages to be actually funny. Several of the most hilarious moments can be credited to Ein, who is in fact mostly there for comic relief and doesn't actually do anything much to qualify himself as exceptional. Ein is modeled after Cowboy Bebop's character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto's own welsh corgi.
Excerpt from EX anime e-zine: "The first broadcast episode begins with Spike Spiegel and Jet Black taking the mercenary ship Bebop to a planet in pursuit of a certain Abdul Hakim, who is wanted for the theft of an experiment sample from a laboratory. Imagine Spike's surprise when the much-coveted lab sample turns out to be a precocious Welsh corgi! Primarily interested in the bounty on Hakim's head, Spike is led on a wild-goose chase (or is that a wild-dog chase?) around town, only to lose Hakim to the police and end up with the corgi instead (much to the dismay of Spike, who does not seem to particularly like the dog). Adopting the crew of the Bebop as his new owners (rather than the other way around), the corgi becomes the mascot of the show".
A feature-lenght anime movie featuring the same characters, Tengoku no tobira (Knockin' On Heaven's Door), also exists.
Both the movie and the series are documented in various art books, see Future Blues website for details on these.

A claymation series from the Aardman Studios of the Wallace And Gromit fame, Creature Comforts was created by interviewing numerous different people in Britain on various subjects and then animating different animals to speak their lines. Having watched parts of this show I can recommend it in general for it has several delightful moments, but unfortunately I've missed the most important episode where, according to Karen Bender, there are "claymation corgis! They had very upper class accents, of course. Unfortunately, one of the puppies lifted it's leg on a work of art, but otherwise they were charming." However, the most likely episode to catch the corgis is Monarchy Business (episode #20, the 2nd season finale). The fact that corgis probably won't be on in the other episodes (they weren't on in season 1, for examples) relagates this to the "minor sighting" category.

An episode (well, half an episode) of this animated children's show about George, a very curious if not downright nousy African monkey, being raised by the somewhat enigmatically (if descriptively) named Man in the Yellow Hat features a pembroke.
Rachel C. Pawson lets on that in the episode 'Curious George, Dog Counter' "George goes to a dog show and ends up luring the winning dogs home with a sandwich to show them, in their great variety, to the Man With the Yellow Hat. The dogs shown are fairly good depictions of real breeds, including, happily, a Pem (who is the one who finally sneaks in and nabs George's sandwich, making me think those writers were dog-savvy individuals indeed!)". She also recommends the show for having "a lot of underlying gentle lessons about math and science, and [not being] nearly as inane as most kids' shows".
While the pem gets a fair bit of screentime, this appears to be the only episode of the show with corgis in it -- hence the minor sighting status.

Comments
From Internet Movie Database: "Dave spins a clever, funny, and sweetly sentimental tale about a man who is recruited to act as a presidential double only to find himself occupying the oval office when the real president is disabled by a stroke". A sentimental and romantic drama comedy with "liberal, left-wing sentiments" (left-wing in the USA context, of course). Not really my cup of tea, so I only have seen the last 15-20 minutes of it, which I didn't think much of. The Cardis are supposedly on in several scenes; at the very least, they appear at the begining of the movie, according to Linda Hutcheson: "The president gets off his helicopter leading two Cardigan Welsh Corgis".

Comments
Nunzio is actually supposed to be the pet of the other dog, Stinky, in the title characters' family. The series itself is a not very noteworthy sitcom. Plus a frustratingly vaguely documented one, provided you want info on the dogs! The show has been cancelled I believe, so no new episodes are forthcoming, but of course you can probably still catch Nunzio in the inevitable re-runs.

Comments
The original Diamond Geezer series was aired in March 2005 and introduced the dodgy criminal Des (portrayed by the popular veteran actor Sir David Jason) who, according to A2 Media Group article, "fooled his inmates and prison guards whilst committing the perfect crime". The series was succesfull enough to spawn a limited series of three 90-minute sequels, of which this is the first. The episode details Des's attempt to pull of the biggest heist of his career -- the theft of the jewel India Star from Buckingham Palace!
Siri Alnaes sends an almost-inside scoop on the role of the pembrokes: "The clue is that [Des] hides in a hedge, feet only to be seen and Spencer is to lift his leg and pee at his feet -– he did not do it only once, first one leg, then turned around and lifted the other. They had kept him in the crate for a while and put several treats around David Jason’s legs, so it worked out pretty good. All the time the footman yells at the dogs, saying they will cost him his job unless they come right away." Additional footage of the corgis frolicking in the park was apparently shot, but you shouldn't expect to see much more than the pee scene in the actual show.

Doctor Who is the British equivalent of Star Trek in the sense of being a major science fiction franchise running for decades on end. Otherwise, the series don’t have too much in common, apart from both having way too much time travel for comfort. In Doctor Who it is rather a main plot device, in fact. The latest run started in 2005 after a long hiatus and is being produced by BBC Wales and ushered by the writer Russell T. Davies.
The episode Voyage of the Damned was the traditional Christmas special for 2007 and features a massive space ship called the Titanic on a collision course with Earth, more specifically London and most specifically with Buckingham Palace (I kid you not…). Sue R. Sudekum reports on the climatic "scene where the 'Queen Mum' was evacuating Buckingham Palace... and she ran down the stairs (in a pink bathrobe and pink fuzzy slippers), carrying a big red Pemmie with another one running beside her! There was another aerial shot of her running from the building with the Corgis romping around, and barks could be heard, brave Corgi folk, barking at the impending doom of the Planet!"
As usual, the Doctor (who, despite looking like a somewhat eccentric human, is in fact a time-traveling 900-year-old alien) saves the day in the end so you need not worry about the corgis…

From Internet Movie Database: "Totally unbelievable, but dumb, harmless fun nonetheless..." Apparently a vehicle comedy written for Christina Applegate in the vein of 1980's teen comedy flicks. Not much known about the role of the Cardi, apparently. One person even insisted it's not a Cardi but a Pem instead (which it isn't), so one would assume it's not on in all that many scenes since it's usually rather easy to tell the two apart on closer scrutiny.

An odd French thriller where -- according to Internet Movie Database -- "a young couple find themselves left a large town house across the street by the old man who lived there. The only catch is that the current housemaid must be kept on for as long as she wants. However once their in the house not only is the housemaid clearly unhappy about the will but other facts from both Jean and Michelle's past come out". The jury is apparently out on the subject of the arty ending being the saving grace or the killing blow for this particular film. Anyway, Anita Nordlunde reports that "a Cardigan corgi has a minor role [in the film]. I don't remember what it is about but the dog dies, I believe he is poisened, after the first third of the film". Also worth noting is that there's another French film, albeit a short, from 2000 titled En face (directed by Mehdi Ben Attia and Zina Modiano) that has nothing to do with corgis.

Another claymation movie co-produced by Aardman Features (renowned as company that brought us Wallace and Gromit) and DreamWorks Animation (the companies earlier collaborated on Chicken Run), Flushed Away is a children's story (or one for the whole family, if you prefer) about a pet rat (Roddy) who gets literally flushed down the toilet and ends up in a London sewer where he has to learn to survive. One of the characters he meets is the Toad who has a room full of Royal collectibles, including two ceramic corgi statuettes (done in claymation as the rest of the movie, of course).
So it’s a downright miniscule sighting, but I hear the movie is quite good otherwise. Leo A. Notenboom writes: "Fun movie, but watch for the Corgis. I think they even survive the destruction that befalls much of the contents of that room."

Garfield has managed to devolve over the years from a reasonably funny dailies comic strip into something that is actually better without the titular far cat character (see Links below…). This has not stopped the enterprising producers from making two Garfield movies (to date). While I’ve not heard a lot of good things about either the first or this the second installment, at least this one does have a brief shot of corgis. Writes Joleen Miller: "[T]wo Pembrokes can be seen leaving Buckingham Palace in a carriage". The main plot is about Garfield and his canine sidekick Odie following their owner, Jon Arbuckle, to England where Garfield is mistaken for a look-alike regal cat who has inherited a castle that the villainous Lord Dargis wants to turn into a resort. Much hilarity ensues, I'm certain.

From Allmovie.com: "[Haunted History] from the History Channel takes the viewer to see firsthand the locations throughout the world where the undead are said to still roam". The specific episode, Haunted Ships, deals with obvious subject matter as well as provides at least a brief corgi sighting.
Writes Patricia L. Olson: "The tail end of the show had what looked like an old sea dog of a captain on it and his dog. [...] It was a male Pembroke that was red and white and a bit on the large bone side. The captain said some closing words, then pick up his corgi buddy, snuggled him some and
with a few more words, turned and walked done a wooden dock towards the sea. With their backs to the camera, the two faded out of sight as if they were ghosts themselves. The captain still carrying his pemmie boy."
Note that while this is touted as documentary series, my personal incredulity says the subject matter makes it more about fiction than fact. Hence the inclusion here, with an apology to those who might be offended.

Hawaii Five-o, created by Leonard Freeman, is the longest running police drama ("cop show") in the US television history, scoring an astounding 13 seasons on CBS-TV from 1968-1980. People outside of USA probably remember the series' name primarily due to the often covered main theme composed by Morton Stevens tho. Be that as it may, when a show runs for as long as Hawaii Five-o did, it would be a small wonder if there wasn't a corgi in it somewhere. And lo and behold, there is: more precisely, a pem makes a brief appearance in the episode "Three Dead Cows at Makapuu: Part 2" (episode #2.24), originally aired on 4 March 1970.

From Internet Movie Database: "More than 300 years ago, 3 witches were sentenced to die in Salem, Massachusetts and a boy was turned into a cat". A Halloween horror comedy for the whole family, apparently. Haven't seen this one, but since everybody on the IMDb is just going on about the said cat, I'm assuming the Corgi mix here would be a bit player...

From Internet Movie Database: "Topper Harley, a top gun fighter pilot, is recalled to serve on the SS Essess. Topper's mission is to destroy Saddam Hussein's nuclear plants. Unfortunately, Topper is psychologically imbalanced and is sure to crack under pressure". Although the movie has some entertaining gags, with the war in Iraq stretching on (at the time of writing) the subject matter is perhaps not the most tasteful, and is getting a bit out of date as well. Politics aside, this movie most definitely has a corgi in it: like Duncan Stone says, there is "a scene where the jet squadron was taking off from [the] aircraft carrier and one of the planes was chased by a corgi". A cardigan sighting for those who love those blink-and-you-miss-it movie moments.

According to TV.com, "Hustle follows the fortunes of a gang of five expert con artists let loose on the streets of London. They are specialists in the way of the grifter and all are keen to liberate cash from the amoral and undeserving." In the episode 5 of season 3, the antiheroes of the series concoct their most ambitious con yet. Ida Duplechin reports that the premise of it is that "Queen Mother Elizabeth had actually died in 1941 and an imposter had been recruited to play the part all of these years." Ante is upped midgame -- as is usual for the show -- when "through the twists and [turns] of the con as played out on a rather nasty tabloid editor, the Royal Security do get involved because they don't like the editor either." Finally, "the editor is exposed as a liar; the other tabloid gets the story of him being a liar and the con artists collect money all the way around. HOWEVER, the last scene is set in a graveyard at the site of the woman who had supposedly been the imposter and UNMISTAKABLY there was the impeccably dressed back of a woman in a sensible tweed coat with sensible shoes and 2 beautiful Pems on leashes visiting the grave." So, was it a just a con after all? This is left for the viewer to decide.
The Database Keeper’s Note: I just recently had the chance to watch this episode on Finnish television and somewhat to my surprise it didn’t include the aforementioned final scene with the corgis. If it was described as something of a “blink-and-you-miss-it”, I’d accept the possibility I did (blink, that is), but I don’t think I could’ve missed an entire scene (especially one I was rather looking forward to). Also, as the plot was otherwise extremely close to the described, there’s really no chance of the one I watched being a different episode. Presumably there could be two (or even more) different cuts of it though (possibly a longer one on DVD or something of that sort), so I’m not ditching this entry quite yet (there is also in fact a mention made of the corgis -- in all of a single sentence -- but they don’t make an appearance). Further confirmations would be appreciated.

This drama contains a brief scene featuring a corgi, who happens to be Celeste and Jim Fleming's pembroke Abby. Celeste writes: "our 12 year old daughter used to be a member of a 4-H dog club. Her leader has been breeding dogs for years (currently Irish Setters) and [is] very involved in the "dog world". She knew the owner of Animal Actors and he contacted her looking for dogs for this film. He met Abby and some other dogs from the group, liked them, and the rest is history! We live in NJ, and the dog walking scenes are all filmed in Philadelphia, so that's why he was looking locally for the dogs".
Having recently had the chance to see this movie on Finnish television, I deem it adequately competent work (judged against what little I know of the genre). Even Cameron Diaz gets a chance to actually act, in addition to providing eye candy, and doesn't appear to be doing too badly either. Abby is on in two scenes, or rather one scene and a brief insert, for about 15 seconds of total screen time, so it's not a movie big on corgi content. We do get a nice shot of her face tho.

Another James Bond spoof, this time starring Rowan Atkinson as the titular secret agent who must save Britain after all the other agents are killed in a bombing. It probably comes as no surprise that English is quite inept at this task and the criminals for the best part of the movie run rings around him. One of the bad guy Pascal Sauvage's goons even gets to the Queen and in quite a crucial scene threatens to shoot one of her beloved pembrokes. Says Laura Weiner, "[the corgi] looked to be a young one, as he could hold it tucked under one arm". Overall, a mildly entertaining effort, even if the corgi content is low.

A much-maligned (rather deservedly IMHO) "fish-out-of-water" comedy featuring such endearing things as the Finnish royal family, among other silly stuff. From a Corgi-L posting: "the movie King Ralph has a quick shot of corgis". No surprise there, since this John Goodman starrer deals with a scenario where "an accident obliterates the British royal family and most of its branches [and] a desperate geneological search discovers the next king: Ralph, a sleazy American lounge singer" [Internet Movie Database]. I have to confess that I don't remember seeing any Corgis at all when watching this... Jean Gordon, however, was much more perseptive: "There is one scene where [Ralph is] on the lawn of one of the castles, surrounded by at least 6 Pems. He throws a frisbee and some of them watch it and some ignore it but none chase it! Just a vignette, but still a thrill!"

A rarity here, a Finnish "horror movie" from the 1980's.
Here's a plot summary from IMDb: "A female fashion model [...] takes leave from the fashion business and goes to Finland's Lappland [...] for a vacation. Little does she know that there's a totally lunatic bunch of local hillbillies living in a nearby farmhouse. The plot thickens as one of the residents begins to harass Anni, who is left alone in the wilderness with only her dog to protect her. Too bad for her that her dog turns out to have divided loyalties..."
I finally managed to catch this on tv, almost 20 years after it came out and it's pretty obvious that they didn't go to Lappland. Otherwise, the above summary is about right. The movie itself is, well, not very good. I think the film might have worked better if the production team had made up their mind as to if they wanted an actually scary movie or a Finnish version of The League of Gentlement. The pembroke Eppa does get a fair amount of screen time though so the film is worth watching for corgi sighting enthusiasts.
Och samma på Finska:
Olli Soinion ns. kauhuelokuva kultaiselta 1980-luvulta. Onnistuin lopulta näkemään tämän lähes 20 vuotta elokuvan valmistumisen jälkeen YLE 1:ltä 8.12.2006.
Pari sanaa juonesta.

A "fictional science" documentary (as opposed to a no-bones-about-it science fiction show) about a (somewhat unlikely) scenario that all of humanity would just up and disappear one day. Among others, the Queen's corgis would be forced deal with having been abandoned -- while still inside Buckingham Palace, no less.
George Fordham writes that Outbreak, the second episode of Life After People, "showed some really cute corgis, playing the part of the Queen's own. You can guess where they found water. They scavenged around the kitchens for a few months before having to find their way outside to try and make it on their own." You can see two pictures with corgis doing this on the official site (see Links below), as well as look at some video footage (if you are in USA, I presume).
While the pems are apparently on for quite a bit of the second episode, I'm pretty sure they don't show up in the other nine episodes so I'm forced to demote this to a minor sighting status.

From Internet Movie Database: "The story of Candy, a little Welsh Corgi, who's raised by his family from a little puppy. But when he's grown up, he gets lost, has adventures, and learns to herd cattle before he's reunited with his family...only that's not where he wants to be". Generally considered to be The Ultimate (Pembroke) Welsh Corgi Movie (I presume due to the screen time received by the Pem...). Unfortunately, it's a bit hard to get in any format (let alone on DVD), it being a Disney telemovie and all...

A romantic drama from Honk Kong featuring a corgi, most likely a pembroke. According to Frank McDonough, the corgi has two scenes of doing "what Corgis do best - in one he's eating, and in the other he's ...umm... 'taking care of business'". It doesn't actually sound like the corgi's on a lot so I've given this a (tentative) minor sighting status.

From Internet Movie Database: "The animals really steal this story, and they are pretty amazing. The Corgi has many scenes, and does them with great style [...] This is a great film for kids, but adults may find their attention lagging". Apparently, Ricki Lake is OK too... This telemovie is one of the few where a Corgi is literally a star, even if just a co-star. Mostly based on Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy Mysteries series novel Rest In Pieces, the story is about a cat solving a murder with the help of her Pembroke sidekick. The telemovie has a male Tucker, while in the book(s) the character is female.

From Internet movie database: "On the surface George Sunday (Ardal O'Hanlon) appears to be a mild-mannered Irishman [...] but in reality, he is Thermoman, an leotard-wearing superhero who hails from the planet Ultron. When he rescues nurse Janet Dawkins (Emily Joyce) [...] the pair fall in love. The comedy of the series is mainly based on George's attempts to come to grips with everyday life and combining a dual career as a superhero and a slightly odd earthling." The Britcom My Hero (1st season in 2000) sounds a lot like The Tick crossed with Third Rock from the Sun, but apparently had something going for it as ran for six seasons until 2006. At the very least, there were a couple of corgis in, specifically in the second season episode Car, according to Susan Bemus "Arnie talks George into restoring his super powers but then proceeds to mis-use his powers by stealing the Crown Jewels, several works of art, and... 3 of the Queen's corgis! I howled when George was uncovering all of Arnie's ill-gotten loot, and the Pems came trotting in a line out of the bedroom. They were obviously not the _real_ Royal corgis, though; they were clearly well-trained and friendly. ;-)"

Fairly obviously, this is a sequel to National Treasure (2004). In this one (according to the Internet Movie Database) the treasure hunter (think modernized Indiana Jones) Ben Gates' "great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincolns death. Determined to prove his ancestors innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America."
Apparently a bit of lukewarm warm-up of a bit lukewarm original, but what can you expect from a family-friendly Di$ney actioner, really? Anyway, there is a very miniscule corgi sighting available. Dillon Pyron reports that in the scene where the characters "break into Buckingham Palace to get to the Resolute Desk, there's a picture of a R&W Pem on the desk".

Among the rash of numerous crime (scene) investigation series to come out in the middle of the first decate of the 3rd millennium is NCIS. According to the production company CBS's site, NCIS "(Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations".
A bit of a little less deadly serious cross between 24 and the various CSI(s), NCIS does at the very least have the on-screen corgis going for it. They first put in a appearance in the 2nd season episode The Meat Puzzle:
Ducky (pointing to a corgi): That's Tyson.
Kate: Because he thinks he's a boxer?
Ducky: Because he bites.
The corgis have been mentioned a few times after that and they reportedly make at least one further appearance (in the 6th season episode Broken Bird). An ardent watcher may well catch more glimpses of Mrs. Mallard's dogs.

In the 3rd episode (Umney's Last Case) of this supernatural/horror series based on Stephen King's short stories, the titular 1930's detective Clyde Umney has an undocked pembroke for a dog. According to Joanne Nilson, Umney "told [the corgi] to 'get a job' when it barked at him. He then said that 'a pembroke welsh corgi has a bark that cuts through your head like shards of glass.' Funny and true." Indeed. Unfortunately, it seems the pem "gets it" later on in the show when a bad guy (also played by the talented Mr. Macy) shows up and offs several other characters.

Nintendogs is a game for the Nintendo DS mini console. It's a Tamagotchi-styled game where the player "adopts", "takes care of", "trains" and "plays with" a digital puppy. You can also take your puppy to virtual dog show of some sort. From Nintendo DS site:
"Put a puppy inside your Nintendo DS! Nintendogs brings puppy love to a whole new level! Features:- Each version of Nintendogs comes with six breeds to choose from, and you can unlock additional breeds by playing with other owners through wireless gameplay!
- Collect and play with a huge array of items like tennis balls, flying discs and even clothing accessories
- Compete in obedience and agility trials to earn cash to buy even more dogs
- Interact wirelessly with friends' Nintendogs using the innovative Bark Mode"
Movement modelling and at least some of the behaviour of the puppies seem to be rather well done, but otherwise I'm not sure what to make of a pembroke playing toy tug with sunglasses on (see links, lower left corner of the page, I [love] puppy cam! video 1). For those into this kind of thing, the virtual pembroke is included in the "lab pack" version, along with 5 other breeds (there are 18 breeds total).

This serious suspence film effort from from the director Joel Schumacher and the comedian actor Jim Carrey, The Number 23 plays heavily on Robert Anton Wilson's and Robert Shea's esoteric numerological concept of the 23 Enigma. It received almost unanimously bad reviews from critics but seems to have been more easily accepted by the regular viewers. There is a prominent dog in the movie, Ned, who is unfortunately not a corgi. But the Sparrow's neighbour's dog is, so the film provides all of ca. 10 seconds worth of corgi content.

Comments
Helen Mirren has captivated many viewers with her very Oscar-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II in this fictionalized account of events following Princess Diana's death. An Internet Movie Database review says: "It's a film that shows us Prince Charles crying, Elizabeth swearing, corgi dogs frolicking and the Blairs fumbling in matters of royal protocol and yet treats none of it in a campy or satiric manner."
We are of course mainly interested in the frolicking corgis. Here are some testimonies from Corgi-L mailing list:
- Dolores Simpson mentions "quick shots of beeeeeaaaauuuutyful [pembrokes] sprinkled all through the movie! Fat fluffy wonderfully behaved - all the things we hear the royal corgis are not!"
- Helen Turin confirms the "corgis were obviously better trained than the real queen's."
- Diana F. Scholl reminds us not to "jump up too fast at the end or you'll miss the final corgi comment on the formal gardens of Buckingham Palace. They do indeed have the last word..."
Truth to tell, the corgis aren't really on in that many a scene (and why would they be). But judging by the reaction of the audience (I actually got out and went to a movie theatre to see this one!) the film would have been a much darker affair if they hadn't been there to lighten up the mood. On the strenght of that alone, I've decided to let The Queen to keep a "full sighting" status.
On the subject of the dog actors in the movie, East Anglian Daily Times reports that "the talented canine co-stars belong to Liz Smith, a retired outside caterer from Little Blakenham, near Ipswich, who became known as 'Corgi Liz' on set [...] Mrs Smith, who like the Queen adores corgis, was approached to help with the film after her dogs were spotted at an obedience competition by an animal consultant for film and television." You can catch a few teaser shots of them in the official site's (see below) trailer and gallery sections.

I suspect the makers wanted a bizarre looking dog to represent a ship cur and chose a cardigan at random. Otherwise, Skipper epitomizes the best traits of his breed, namely bravery (runs away at the first sign of danger) and intelligence (chases a burning fuse down to a gunpowder barrel and explodes along with it). Seriously, though: CWC content aside, this is rather a pointless, although not seriously bad, take on an old classic.
Trivia: despite my lack of enthusiasm for the quality of this film, it is in fact the very work of fiction that inspired me to begin collecting information for CSDb all those years ago...

From Internet Movie Database: "Sister Act is about a Reno lounge singer named Deloris Van Carter who witnesses her mobster boyfriend killing an employer. She is then hidden in a convent under a witness protection program." A musical feelgood comedy in the 'complementing opposites' vein. Many people on IMDb seem think it's one of the best, if not THE best movie ever. I, however, confess to 'walking out' on it pretty quickly. So quickly, in fact, that I missed the alleged Corgi mix altogether... Based on that, I've placed this movie in the minor sightings category.

In the last episode of the first season ("Knock, Knock") of this dark comedy/drama series, a cardi is seen sitting by the side of Aunt Lilian in the death scene at the begining of the show. Also, Tracy later refers to her aunt raising welsh corgis. The fact is also mentioned in her obituary, which you can read in its entirety by visiting the official site (see Links below): Ms. Montrose was a respected and well-loved staple of her community. She raised Welsh Corgis on her estate and her dogs were twice awarded Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club's annual tournament.

As described by Anita Nordlunde, this BBC sitcom features a "Pembroke Corgi called Hemingway who according to the script is a confused miniatue Rottweiler and is very much part of the family who buy a house with a resident Jewish ghost". Yep, you read that last part right: it's a sitcom about a family and a Jewish grandmother ghost. Apparently many people find the treatment of an old Jewish woman to be rather stereotypical and the show is not generally known to have been all that good otherwise either, but it does seem to have had a high corgi content factor. So Haunt Me ran for a couple of seasons (and a Christmas special) until 1994.

This direct-to-video live action children’s effort from Di$ney is 7th installment in the Air Bud movie franchise. The titular character is apparently a golden retriever that can play basket ball, or something…
Space Buddies isn’t getting stellar reviews, but does have several corgi moments according to this very detailed report from Lee H. Skinner: "there is a short 3-second scene showing Queen Elizabeth with 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgis at 54 minutes and 14 seconds into the new Disney DVD & Blu-ray movie 'Space Buddies'. Two more camera shots of the corgis including a great close-up of the 2 corgis occurs about 6 minutes later. 12 minutes later there is a 4th close-up shot of the corgis. 2 minutes later there are still 2 more shots of the corgis, with one of them barking excitedly."

Comments
The episode 14 of season 1 of this very long running, intentionally (I hope) somewhat campy scifi adventure series features a dog that looks like it might be a pembroke or possibly a corgi mix. It's presented by Colonel Jack O'Neill as gift to Cassandra, the little girl who is the last survivor of her civilization, at the very end of the episode. Jack says: "We have a rule here on Earth. Every kid has got to have a dog. This is a dog, and he's yours".
Edie Bain comments that the corgi "actually has close to minute of screen time, even if it doesn't get to do anything more than lie there looking cute".

A most bizarre Corgi sighting, and an extremely short one: the video for the Suicidal Tendecies song Trip At The Brain features two pembrokes, one of which is momentarily seen chewing on some gray plastic toy brains! This is too weird... Unfortunately, the song is... erm, not that good -- but hey, we can't have everything (-;)
You can watch part of the video (and if you don't blink a lot, catch the pems) on YouTube.

A very marginal inclusion, the Halloween special for 2006 of this rather popular and acclaimed talk show featured the host Joy Behar dressed up as Queen Elizabeth II, complete with the requisite corgis.

An extemely minor sighting. In the 4th season episode Someone Old, Someplace New of the sitcom Will and Grace a painting of corgi can be seen (presumably on the wall) in the scene in the pub where Karen’s mom works at.
